The registrars can refuse to complete the transaction without getting
a acknowledgement by default.  This is just poor Registrar UI.

Proceed with update: <button>  (Confirmation code will be sent via email to user at example.com)
Warning: confirmation code must be entered within 15 days or the delegation will be cancelled

My bank does something like the first half for every new payee and
other significant account changes and won't proceed without the
confirmation code.  Real time feedback on changes to contact details
is possible.
