I work for BFK, a German IT security company.  My professional
interest in DNS is motivated by the fact that everybody is exposed to
its quirks and suffers when things do not work as expected (or cannot
be made not to work).

In the past, I worked on capturing DNS traffic from production traffic
for research purposes ("passive DNS replication"), and on identifying
and mitigating some protocol quirks.
