	I mean that there's a cost/benefit decision to be made about using
	such tools.  From the point where the tools start giving more trouble
	(a non-monetary cost) than convenience (a benefit), they don't add
	value any more.  If the "old dance" gives a better net value, that's
	the way to go.

	It's probably worth focusing the main effort on making

		./configure [options]; make; make test; sudo make install

	do the business, and letting enthusiasts for any particular package
	tool take it from there.
