[dns-operations] DNS version request

This is probably a noob question, but I can’t seem to create a search term
for google to help me.

Is there a way to route a dns version request through an intermediate DNS
server?
Just a clarification the request is for another dns server and not for the
intermediate server.

If it is possible, I will appreciate pointers on how this can be done or
any reference you can point me to.
