The problem with NTP is that NTPd retains information about a peers over 
a longer period, particularly RTT, this creates a "virtual" binding that 
it is expecting to be reasonably steady over a long period of time.


I would assume if you simply used cron+ntpdate, instead of "ntpd", then 
you'd be OK as, like DNS, this long-term virtual binding wouldn't occur.
