I just sent mail to noc at icann.org referencing the problems you described
and pointing them to this thread as well. One can safely assume that we
should here from someone at ICANN soon, and I see that we've already
heard from Anand regarding the situation with sec2.
Obviously the problem with sec2 has been going on for a while (it
currently has serial number 2011021000) so hopefully a response from
ICANN will include some mention of what monitoring is being done for the
zones that they manage, and how this issue slipped through a crack in
that monitoring.
