The advantages of using IPFIX/PSAMP for this kind of thing is that it allows powerful combinatorial analysis of the layer-7 DNS query/response information alongside TCP/IP heuristics and other telemetry streams of interest. 

So, no need for another telemetry protocol, merely for applications to collect/analyze the telemetry.

I think the concept is a good and useful one, and hope to see it implemented RSN.
