if 5% of the effort that's been spent on load balanced DNS ("stupid DNS
tricks" as i like to call them) in the last 15 years had been spent on
getting more applications to support the SRV RR, we'd be done by now.

your RFC vent is loud and clear.  however, not all constraints can be
avoided by loophole, and often the cost of doing so is shifted onto third
parties.  it's as though people want to be liberal in their own RFC
interpretations but expect all others to be conservative.
