OK, sorry for the confusion. With libbind, it works.

A problem is that libbind is not easy to obtain. I did not find yet a
packaging system which allows me to get it simply. 

Notes for specific OS:

* Debian : no apparent solution. http://bugs.debian.org/422583

* Gentoo : even with my own ebuild (adding --enable-libbind), I cannot
get it installed. http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=177415

* FreeBSD : compiling /usr/ports/dns/bind9 is not sufficient since the
CONFIGURE_ARGS in the Makefile is not incremental: it erases the
command-line value.

* NetBSD : compiling in /usr/pkgsrc with
CONFIGURE_ARGS=--enable-libbind seems sufficient (although I would
prefer to put the option in a configuration file, to remember it).
