when malone first put this idea forward at an oarc workshop two years ago,
i ticked off a long list of reasons, in the form of questions to him, and
getting no answers, i thought this issue was dead.  maybe malone forgot to
tell the freebsd community that the idea had been dissed.

it's not my turn.  does everybody else think this is a good idea?  start
with the fact that root nameservers renumber from time to time, and go from
there.
