Do you have a "transport" dataset defined in dsc.conf?
For example, this would be the default dataset:

     dataset transport_vs_qtype dns Transport:transport Qtype:qtype queries-only;

This dataset only counts queries of type AAAA and A6 for
*.root-servers.net names.  Probably your nameserver doesn't
send/receive any of those queries.

The phrase "popular names" is a bad description of this dataset.  It was
originally developed when DSC was only used by root nameservers.  It only
counts queries for *.root-servers.net and localhost.  Again, I suspect
your nameserver does not send/receive any of those queries.
