Is there strong support for addressing:

sooner rather than later?  The 1.1.1 release is the final
2 or 3 betas, and any new features at this late stage would
need to have considerable value/support, and be easy to
review and test.  It may thus be too late to get this done
in 1.1.1, but perhaps not impossible if the need is strong
enough, and especially if someone can contribute quality
code and tests.
