[dns-operations] DEV TLD?

127.0.53.53 (and the 'cutesy' stuff you describe) is expected, as per
https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2-2014-08-01-en, no?

Basically, new (or at least possibly problematic) TLDs wildcard everything
to 127.0.53.53 for some period of time to alert sysadmins of problems
before the TLDs start to be used for real things.
