There are no user serviceable parts inside. Although the box runs  
Linux, the vendor  (AVM) has crippled it in the most brain-damaged  
way. They've taken out the useful stuff and changed lots of things for  
no good reason: weird config files, strange file system layout, very  
little functionality, special file types for some config files that  
can't be modified with regular tools, etc. Advice from customer  
support barely goes beyond power-cycling the box or reinstalling the  
firmware (which relies on you having Windows). Efforts are being made  
to address this, but not by AVM. Check out the Freetz project (http://trac.freetz.org 
). Most of the discussion is in German.

This is very sad because the Fritzbox could be a great little DSL box  
if AVM had a clue.
