I was thinking that in my situation, this wouldn't work because my AS112
node is reachable only via the CA*Net 4 network (and by extension
Internet2) ....
Which got me to think: zlately I'm seeing some traffic coming from my
node trying to make it out to the Internet instead of going back
(presumably) from where it came via CA*Net 4. It may not have anything to
do with Qwest being a sometime (maybe current?) supplier of Internet 2,
but if high-performance routes are being leaked out somewhere to
downstream networks, then yes, I could see timeouts happening because my
Internet filters would break the asymetrical traffic - in my case. But
without knowing more about the particular node's connectivity, I'm just
speculating.
But back on topic, It would benefit the draft (and ultimately operators)
if we stress the importance of identifying a means to track down who runs
an AS112 node so we can troubleshoot things.
